  • Founded by Ambassador (and former Congresswoman) Diane E. Watson on November 7, 1984, the Five Points Youth Foundation focuses on: Entrepreneurship; Economic Development; Education; Engagement and Empowerment

We are a voluntary committee of the "Heal the World" generation ‎that leverages the enduring spirit of 1992 to "take a little space and make a better place" - starting with our pop up studio soundstage called This Place LA at 1820 Florence Boulevard, South Los Angeles, where we relocated in 2012, 20 years after the 1992 L.A. Riots

Beginning in 2017, Delphine “SilkyD” Williams, Sir Bailey and TheLivingWellTour began producing monthly, annual and periodic community events featuring internationally known talent.

During those events, we also host open mic sessions for local talent in this safe, family-friendly and fun space in order to bring together people from all walks of life, socio-economic levels and ranges of interest.

We are using the pre-existing momentum of "Thanksgiving" to help our beloved city "turn the other cheek" in this time of crisis. We can refocus our necessary patriotism in favor of the organic naturalism of "ThanksLoving" - the universal sense of gratitude and connectedness that is always in our midst.

We operate This Place LA as a community venue to produce the daily victories that are needed to establish trust. We also create new lifestyle narratives for our constituents who are learning to overcome persistent struggles with homelessness, hunger, ignorance and hopelessness through the creative arts.

We have a growing slate of preliminary events already scheduled to qualify our initial grassroots capacity. Through voluntary efforts and donations we can now maximize our promotion, recording, broadcasting and syndication capacity to help "Heal Los Angeles to Heal the World" - especially with a little help from our friends!

Our Impact in South Los Angeles

From “Death Valley” to “This Place LA”

Urban Regeneration in LA County

Our collaborative project, “This Place LA”, is a network of organizations and individuals working to create eco–librium in Los Angeles county.

Five Points Youth Foundation is collaborating with Pando Populus to spur environmental regeneration in south Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Black Women Farmers of Los Angeles

Mutual Aid Food Project

A grassroots organization that provides weekly boxes of fresh, organic vegetables to Black women with incarcerated family members. The collective also provides agricultural education programs and builds gardens in transitional housing.

Five Points Youth Foundation works with the collective to bring regenerative food systems to neighborhoods in South L.A. that have been starved of nutritious, pesticide-free fruits and vegetables.

“Paint-Out” Beautification

South L.A. Neighborhood Rejuvenation

Since 2016, Five Points Youth Foundation has sponsored an annual “Paint-Out” neighborhood beautification to rejuvenate their local South L.A. district.

Members of the community come out to watch the artists at work, while also enjoying food, fashion, fun, world famous artists and open mic sessions. Dozens of aerosol artists create dazzling, inspiring mural art along the alleyways of South L.A.

“Paint Out” beautifies and revives the neighborhood, while strengthening the economic and social health of the community and building social bonds between neighbors.

“Art + Food”

Sustainable & Healthy Food Choices in South L.A.

Five Points Youth Foundation created Art + Food out of a need for fresh, sustainable and healthy food choices in South LA, which suffers from inequalities in healthcare and nutritional resources.

“Art + Food” provides local resident with events that offer farm-to-table, vegetable-rich, vitamin-dense cuisine, prepared with an artistic, creative flare.

Council district 8 in Los Angeles has one the highest rates of nutrition-related diseases, including diabetes, childhood obesity, high blood pressure, and cancer.
